Personality and traits
People avoid her as much as they can because they consider her unlucky and are afraid that being around her will cause them to get into trouble too. As a result of this she is very self-deprecating and unconfident, just living with her reputation of unluckiness as an unchangeable fact. She has a fondness for the German raspberry-based dessert Errötende Jungfrau (usually translated into English as "Blushing maid").
Tombstone quotes
| Heroic | She never surrendered to the roll of the dice. |
| Tragic | Unlucky after all, but braver than she knew. |
Character Trivia
She has no direct sister ships currently, but she has half-sisters in Theodor Riedel and Hans Lody of the Type 1934A subclass.

- Leberecht Maass on Wikipedia.
- Like all Type 1934 destroyers, she was named after German naval officers who died fighting in World War I. Z1 was given the name of Konteradmiral Leberecht Maass, who commanded the German forces at the Battle of Heligoland Bight and died when his flagship the light cruiser SMS Cöln was sunk by British battlecruisers.
